Dollar Tree Balloon Pump Recall: Identify It and Get a Refund

Stop using the recalled Dollar Tree electric balloon pump, even if it appears to work normally. The October 1, 2026 recall covers about 360,500 pumps that can overheat, posing a burn hazard. The remedy is a refund—not a repair or a change in operating mode. CPSC recall notice

If the label is unclear or you cannot confirm the purchase details, Dollar Tree says you can email photographs of the pump and its bottom label to ddirect@dollartree.com for help identifying it. Gift recipients can also participate in the recall. Dollar Tree identification guidance
Why normal operation does not clear it for use
According to CPSC, Dollar Tree received three reports of overheating, including one involving flames inside the unit and one involving the unit exploding. No injuries were reported in the notice. The stated hazard is overheating and burns; the notice does not identify the failed internal component or establish a technical cause. CPSC incident details
Neither operating mode is exempt from the recall. Do not run the pump to see whether it gets hot, switch to touch-on mode as a workaround or attempt an internal repair. Dollar Tree explicitly tells owners to stop using affected pumps even when they appear fine. Dollar Tree recall instructions
How to get the refund—with or without a receipt
CPSC says owners should return the recalled pump to any Dollar Tree store for a full refund. Online buyers should contact Dollar Tree for a prepaid return shipping label. CPSC remedy instructions
Dollar Tree’s own instructions add an important practical distinction:
- In-store return with a receipt: Dollar Tree says it will provide a full refund immediately.
- In-store return without a receipt: The stated store option is an exchange for merchandise valued up to $17. If that option is unsuitable, contact Dollar Tree for a gift card or a refund through PayPal or Venmo.
- Online or DoorDash purchase: You can also return the pump to any Dollar Tree store for the merchandise exchange described above. Alternatively, contact Dollar Tree for a prepaid shipping label; its instructions say a gift card or PayPal/Venmo refund will be issued after the returned pump is received.
